Multi-domain configuration
A website can run on several web addresses (domains) at the same time – for example because it has several language versions, or because it has a public part and a protected portal. All settings related to a specific domain are managed in one place in the admin area.
What a "domain configuration" is
A domain configuration is a record for one domain (or a group of domains, e.g. yourcompany.com and www.yourcompany.com together) that defines:
- which languages (cultures) appear on that domain,
- the domain's SEO and security settings (see SEO and Content-Security-Policy),
- and optionally a domain zone – i.e. whether the domain belongs to the public website, the portal, or another content area.

Why have several domains
The most common reasons a project uses more than one domain:
1) Different languages on different addresses
For example, the Czech version of the site runs on www.yourcompany.cz and the Slovak one on www.yourcompany.sk. Based on the address, a visitor automatically sees content in the right language, without having to switch it themselves.
When writing content, an editor doesn't set anything special for this – they just create the page in the correct language (culture), and the system shows it on the matching address based on the domain's settings.
2) Different content areas on different addresses (zones)
For example, the public part of the website runs on www.yourcompany.cz and the client portal on portal.yourcompany.cz. This split is called a domain zone and has its own dedicated page: Domain zones (public website and portal).
Both options (languages and zones) can be combined – a domain can be limited to a specific language and a specific zone at the same time.
Where you can see this setting
An administrator with the right permission can see, under Configuration -> SEO -> Domain Configuration, the list of all configured domains and, for each one:
- the domain code/address,
- the languages (cultures) that run on it,
- the domain zone (if used),
- and the related SEO/security settings.
After changing a setting, use the Reload tenants button so the change takes effect on the live site.
What to do if you need a change
Adding a new domain, changing the languages on a domain, or changing its zone is a technical change that needs verification (e.g. that the domain correctly points to the server, that security is configured, etc.). If you need any of this, please contact your development/support team.
Recommendations
- Before requesting a new domain, clarify which language and which type of content (public/portal) it should carry.
- After any change to the domain configuration, don't forget to click Reload tenants.
- For details on individual settings, see SEO, Content-Security-Policy, and Domain zones.
